Crystalistic by Sonia

SoniaI’ve always created…obsessively.  I completed my first tapestry when I was 6 then moved on to cross-stitch, petite point, applique, mixed media sewing, felt stitching, card making and more. When I went to University I started knitting. My goal was to knit one creation per month using as many colours and stitches as I could fit into a garmet – for the first year I reached my goal! I made numerous dancing outfits with matching accessories using quality fabrics.   When I started work in the corporate world I made shirts with matching hair pieces and suits with matching shoes or trims and used expensive unusual buttons.   If I used a pattern I always changed it to make my pieces unique. Then hair scrunchies came into fashion… so I made hundreds of scrunchies with matching earrings by covering button bases – my friends would take bags of 25 sets, sell them and come back for more and more!

“Paper tole” became an absolute passion for me and my house is full of Anton Pieck and Annamieke Mein themed three-dimentional paper toles which I framed myself.   I crafted every spare minute of my time.  When ebay took over I had themed jewellery and brooches made overseas (with my own touch) and set up an ebay store. That was a lot of fun but it wasn’t completely my product.

After 2 children I left the corporate world in my 40s and had time to stop and think “what really makes me happy?” Besides my family (my husband, a beautiful boy and gorgeous girl – oh and a very spunky adopted greyhound called “Sandy”) I realised it was crafting and creating.   I have always loved colour, texture and quality materials but could no longer afford to buy the expensive jewellery, gemstones and crystals I once used to love wearing…

… hence the evolution of “Crystalistic

I adore making jewellery using Swarovski crystals and faceted gemstones with quality sterling silver or gold filled findings – manyof which I have specially manufactured. I can make my styles in an array of stunning Swarovski crystal colours using various metals – gold, silver, antique gold, antique silver, copper, rose gold or gunmetal. I especially love custom making pieces. The harder a product is to find or the rarer it is the more determined I am to have it!

In between running around to basketball matches, karate classes, music lessons or teaching some beautiful children part-time (education is another passion,) I relax by making affordable unique quality Swarovski crystal jewellery which is beautifully packaged in leatherette boxes – the ideal gift or to indulge oneself.

My jewellery can be found in boutiques, bought online or contact me if you would like a jewellery demonstration with a group of friends which is heaps of fun over wine and cheese!

I am passionate and take pride in what I do so please provide me with any feedback you may have as my creations are always evolving.
